Funeral Celebrant in Anglesey
As a funeral celebrant in Anglesey, I create personal funerals, memorials and celebrations of life that reflect the person who has died and the life they shared with the people around them.
I will take the time to listen to your memories, learn about their personality and understand the relationships, experiences and moments that made them who they were.
From those conversations, I will write and conduct a warm, thoughtful ceremony that honours their life and supports everyone attending. I work across Anglesey and throughout North Wales.
Choose Your Own Funeral Celebrant in Anglesey
It is a common misconception that your funeral director must choose the celebrant or minister who conducts the service. Although funeral directors arrange many of my bookings, families are also welcome to contact me directly and ask for me by name.
Please take some time to look around the website and get to know me. You are welcome to call, message or ask questions, even if you simply want to hear how I speak and decide whether I would be a good match for your family and the person whose funeral you are arranging.
You can then contact me directly or ask your chosen funeral director to get in touch on your behalf. Whichever route you choose, the first step will be a calm conversation about what you need.
How I Arrange a Personal Funeral Service
Most people arrange only a small number of funerals during their lifetime, so it is completely understandable not to know what to expect. I will explain each stage and guide you through the process with care.
- Our first conversation: We will speak by telephone, video call or messaging service to discuss the funeral, memorial or celebration of life you are arranging.
- Helpful information: I will send you information about me, what happens next and the kinds of memories and details it may help to think about before we meet.
- The family meeting: I will usually visit you in your home for a relaxed conversation lasting up to two hours. Family members and friends are welcome to join us.
- Joining from a distance: The meeting can also take place online, or we can use a combination of face-to-face and video calls when relatives or friends live further away.
- Your draft ceremony: I will write the service and send it to you so you can check names, dates, details and the overall tone. You can request changes until it feels right.
- Preparation for the day: Once approved, I will rehearse and prepare the ceremony while remaining in contact with your funeral director to confirm music and other arrangements.
Personal Celebrations of Life in Anglesey
Every ceremony I write is different because every person is different. The service should reflect their personality, childhood, family, friendships, work, hobbies, holidays, achievements and the small details people remember with affection.
A ceremony does not have to follow a religious format. When religion was not important to the person who died, the service can be entirely non-religious and focused on their life.
Where a hymn, prayer or quiet moment of reflection would provide comfort to relatives or friends, we can discuss how to include that sensitively while keeping the ceremony true to the person being remembered.
Music, readings, poems, photographs and contributions from family members can all be included. I will help you shape those choices into a coherent, meaningful service.
Memorial Services After a Direct Cremation
A direct cremation may have been exactly what your loved one wanted, but families sometimes feel that they still need an opportunity to come together, share memories and say goodbye.
I can create and conduct a personal memorial or celebration of life after an unattended cremation. It can take place whenever feels right for your family and does not need to follow the restrictions of a traditional funeral venue.
You might choose a village hall, local pub, social club, garden, woodland, beach or another place connected to the person you are remembering.
I can also help you plan a ceremony for the scattering or interment of ashes, either as part of the memorial or as a separate occasion.
Support from Your Funeral Celebrant on the Day
I will arrive at the venue early to make sure everything is ready and to check the arrangements with the funeral director or venue team. I will be there when you arrive and can offer reassurance before the service begins.
During the ceremony, I will deliver the celebration of life, introduce music, readings and other contributions, and support anyone who wishes to speak. If somebody finds it too difficult to continue, I can gently take over and read their words for them.
After the service, I will remain available outside the chapel or venue for as long as appropriate. I will give you a printed presentation copy of the ceremony as a keepsake and send a digital copy during the following days.
I also conduct burials, including committals at a different location from the main service, and can coordinate the ceremony around the timings agreed with your funeral director.
Frequently Asked Questions
Arranging a funeral can feel overwhelming, particularly while you are grieving. These answers cover some of the questions families most often ask me.
A funeral celebrant works alongside your funeral director to help you create a personal tribute or celebration of life. I learn about the person who has died and write a ceremony centred around their life, personality and relationships.
Yes. I can create a personal memorial or celebration of life after a direct cremation. It can take place in a pub, village hall, social club, garden, woodland, beach or another meaningful setting. I can also help with a ceremony for scattering ashes.
No. If religion was not important to the person who died, the ceremony can be entirely non-religious and focused on their life. We can also include a quiet period of reflection for people who would find that comforting.
Yes. Where a hymn, prayer or another religious element would provide comfort to relatives and friends, we can discuss a suitable way to include it while keeping the ceremony personal and inclusive.
Music can be a very personal part of the service, and unusual choices are welcome. Many crematoria have media systems that can provide recorded music, photo tributes and webcasts. For other venues, we can agree a practical way to play the music you choose.
Of course. I have a library of poems and readings and can suggest options that suit the personality, experiences and life of the person you are remembering.
Children are welcome and can be included in the ceremony in age-appropriate and creative ways if your family wishes.
Pets may also be welcome, but this depends on the rules of the chapel, crematorium or other venue. I am happy to help you ask the venue in advance.
I am a Welsh-language learner and would not currently be confident conducting an entire service in Welsh. I am, however, happy to include readings or words written by family and friends in Welsh.
Crematoria and dedicated funeral venues commonly allocate around 30 to 40 minutes, including entry, exit and music. Where more time is needed, your funeral director may be able to arrange a longer or double slot.
Memorials and services in other venues may have more flexibility, and I can help you plan an appropriate length.
My fee is £250 for a funeral or memorial. This includes communication with you and your funeral director, a family meeting, a complete draft ceremony and unlimited edits before the service.
It also includes delivery of the ceremony on the day and a printed presentation copy for you to keep.
Yes. I conduct burials and can also lead a committal at a different location from the main service. I conduct memorials following an unattended cremation too.
Absolutely. I will ask to see their words before the service so that we can avoid repeating the same stories and keep within the available time. I can also take over and read their contribution if they find it too difficult on the day.
